昨日、住んでいる付近に新しい中華料理店の初日でしたので、「せいぜい２０分ぐらい待ちます」って思っていたけど、並びは超長かった。注文できるまで、一時間は待っちゃった。

There’s a new Chinese place in my neighborhood that had it’s first day yesterday, I went thinking “the wait can’t be longer than 20 minutes” but the line was insanely long. I ended up waiting for an hour before I could order.

雨が降るので、帽子をかぶる
降る is also read as ふる but is used when rain is falling from the sky.
着る is for things from shoulders down. かぶる is used for wearing somethings on your head
This sentence looks good to me! I often see 晩御飯 written as just 晩ごはん too.
Another way of writing would be 木曜日だから夕食を作る
夕食 = ゆうしょく
